Emergency Pak
It's
amazing how times have changed.
Ever since 911, I no longer take
our freedom for granted --- In
the past 5 years, more things
have happen to change our
society than any time in the
past history of our country!
It makes good sense, therefore,
to plan for the worst and hope
for the best.
Should an earthquake or a terrorist attack ever take
place in our area, it may be
wise to be prepared before hand.

Pick a location for family members
to meet.
*
Have a "Emergency Pak" already
to go, packed in boxes, or
plastic containers (tub with
lids).
*
Have 30 day supply of water for
family.
* Choose food wisely. You
will be going on a diet!
*
Pack extra batteries (for
flashlight, and other battery
operated items such as a
radio...)
*
Basic 1st aid supplies
* Car 12v recharging unit
KEEP YOUR
GAS TANK
HALF FULL
MINIMUM
AT ALL TIMES
In time of emergency, gas lines
will be long or perhaps stations
will be out of order for one
reason or another.
So, keep the tank half full as a
standard practice.

Dear Friends:
The winter season is here. If you haven't
wrapped your water pipes by now, it's never to late.
Water leaks can cost you dearly should your
pipes freeze. First the water damage can
really set you back.
Should you file a water damage claim with your
insurance company, you will be put on a list
(known as CLUE) and your insurance rates may
rise considerably in the subsequent years as a
result.
Then there is the
cost of a plumber. $75-$100 an hour!
Whew.
Wouldn't it be better to just to wrap your
outside pipes or buy one of these heat wrap
units to put on your pipes now as we're talking
about it and not have to deal with any problems
down the road?
Cost should be more
than $10 for a heat wrap, or $3 for foam tubing.
Its not the material price --- its the
procrastination that can cost you! I've been
there.
In the meantime, please keep in mind I am more
than just a Buyers Agent. I also "list and
sell" the properties of my past buyer clients
and anyone they refer to me as
well.
Check below, as I have invested in a
program that leads the industry --- I Guarantee
I Can and Will Sell Your Home when you are ready
(3, 5, 10 years down the road).

Winter Home Maintenance Tips
|
 |

- Go out and buy some ROCK SALT granules so you have it
available to sprinkle on the deck and sidewalk on icy
mornings.
- If you haven't done so already, move all your sensitive
outdoor plants inside where it is warmer; and cover them
will a plastic bag so they so they don't die. If the
temperature gets below 40 degrees, it may kill them. Below 32
degrees will for sure!
- Review your fire escape plan with your family --- where
do you meet outside. What about the family pets.
What about any possessions? Discuss the do's and
don'ts NOW,
- Be very very sure you have changed your furnace filter,
and had your furnace serviced.
- With the winter months having more darkness than daylight,
be sure to replace all outdoor light bulbs that are burnt out.
- When was the last time you changed the 9 volt battery
in your smoke detectors? Better yet, do you have a
smoke detector? If not, why not? Get one!
- If you have a smoke detector, have any of them had the
battery taken out because it kept going off because of
something in the kitchen triggered it? If so, does
that make you and your family safe.
- Go from room to room (takes 20-30 minutes, if done
right), pull out each plug, with a dry rag, wipe it clean of
any line or dust, and plug it back into the socket, all the
way, so there is no gap between the plug and the socket!
NOTE:
The combination of lint, dust and an air gap between light
plug terminals, has started more house fires than we care to
mention.
