Let’s say it is a $225,000 home you purchased.  Let’s say you bought it Zero Down.  By next year, you will owe approximately $222,000 however your equity in the home, based on this areas current appreciation rate, will be about $27,000 --- your home would have a market value of about $250,000+ just after one year.

Also, all of the interest and property taxes that you pay on your home are fully tax deductible! (Check with an accountant or tax specialist.)
